Soccer America Preseason Men's College Top 25

Indiana, the 2017 NCAA Division I runner-up, is ranked No. 1 in the Soccer America Preseason Men's College Top 25 rankings ahead of North Carolina, three-time defending champion Stanford, Michigan State and Akron.

The Hoosiers return nine starters from a team whose only loss in 25 games a year ago came in the championship game when they dropped a 1-0 overtime decision to Stanford. Defender Andrew Gutman was an All-America in 2017, while sophomore Trey Muse is considered one of the USA's top under-20 keepers.

North Carolina, one of eight ACC teams in the Preseason Top 25, hosts Indiana on Sunday in a rematch of their 2017 College Cup semifinal match at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. The Tar Heels have been the most consistent team in the country in the last decade with six College Cup appearances and nine Sweet 16 appearances in 10 seasons.

Stanford, 52-7-10 over the last three seasons, was picked to win the Pac-12 and placed three players -- Amir Bashti, Tanner Beason and Jared Gilbey -- on the All-Pac-12 preseason team.
