USA-Mexico: Brazilian Tuca Ferretti will be in charge of El Tri

For the third time, Brazilian Tuca Ferretti will be Mexico's interim national team coach, serving as the head coach for September friendlies against the USA and Uruguay while the Mexican federation makes a decision on the successor for Juan Carlos Osorio.

Ferretti, the Tigres head coach, coached Mexico for one game in 1993 and four games in 2015, leading El Tri past the USA, 3-2, in overtime to win the Concacaf Cup. He was appointed after Miguel Herrera was fired following the 2015 Gold Cup and before Osorio took charge in 2016.

Mexico, which faces Uruguay in Houston on Sept. 7 and the USA in Nashville on Sept. 11, is likely to field a young team with call-ups possible for three teenagers, Californian Jonathan Gonzalez, Spanish-born Roberto Alvarado and Diego Lainez.
