Quick Hits: U.S. Abroad, Germany

Josh Sargent, who remained with Werder Bremen instead of joining the U.S. national team for the friendlies against Brazil and Mexico, started for Bremen in its 2-1 loss to Dutch club Emmen, assisting on the lone goal.

The decision to stay behind was intended for just that -- a chance for Sargent to play with the first team. He has scored five goals in seven games for Bremen's U-23s in the Regionalliga.

Werder Bremen has another friendly scheduled against Meppen on Saturday.
