College Women: Haley leads Stanford to record-setting 29th straight win

No. 1 Stanford set a school record when it extended its winning streak to 29 games with a 3-0 win over Cal Poly on Thursday. The victory set a record for the longest unbeaten streak.

The winning streak is the longest since North Carolina won 31 games in a row in 2003. The Cardinal’s unbeaten run is the longest since UCLA went 44 games unbeaten from 2013-14.

Madison Haley led Stanford with two goals while freshman Abby Greubel scored her second goal of the season with a 25-yard shot that crept inside the near post in the 72nd minute.

Haley needed just six minutes to put Stanford in front when sophomore Jojo Harber cut the ball back to Haley, who scored with her left foot. She added a second goal from the penalty spot in the 51st minute.

“This was a great team effort with a lot of players making an impact, which is what we want to see,” said Stanford coach Paul Ratcliffe. “Madison Haley showed her quality tonight. Her all-around play has been fantastic for us.”
