Germany beat out Turkey for the right to host Euro 2024, which will mark the first time it stages the European Championship as a unified country.
West Germany hosted the 1988 tournament
when it had eight teams. The 2024 event will include 24 teams.
Berlin will host the final. Ten cities in all are slated to hold matches. They include Munich, which is one of 12 cities
across Europe that will host the 2020 pan-European finals.
Euro 2024 cities: Berlin
Cologne
Dortmund
Duseseldorf
Frankfurt
Gelsenkirchen

Turkey also failed in bids to host the Euros in 2008, 2012 and 2016. UEFA
president
Aleksander Ceferin termed both bids as being "very strong," but the Turkish bid was marked off in the areas of human rights and hotel capacity as well as transportation
infrastructure.
