MLS: Albright out for the season with knee injury

D.C. United rookie midfielder Chris Albright is out for the rest of the season after suffering a torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee during training on Oct. 26. Albright, 20, suffered the injury after going in on a tackle during the morning session at United Park in Herndon, Va. He was examined by United team doctor, Dr. William Hazel, who discovered a third-degree tear of the ligament. No surgery is planned, and though his leg is fully immobilized, he will begin therapy immediately. Albright is expected to return to playing duty in 8-12 weeks. Albright is expected to recover in time to compete for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team next fall. The Olympic Games begin on Sept. 13 in Australia. Albright played on the U.S. under-20 team that reached the second round of last spring's World Youth Championship in Nigeria.
