European tour: USWNT brings in two uncapped players

For the U.S. women's national team's two-game European tour, head coach Jill Ellis has called in seven players who didn't take part in the recent Concacaf Women's Championship, including two uncapped players.

Emily Fox, a sophomore at the University of North Carolina, earned her first call-up while Chicago Red Stars midfielder Danielle Colaprico was recalled for the first since 2016.

November Friendlies:
Nov. 8: Portugal vs. USA in Lisbon (1 p.m. ET on ESPN2)
Nov. 13: Scotland vs. USA in Paisley (2 p.m. ET on FS1, UDN)

Seventeen of the 24 players on the squad helped the USA qualify for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup at the recently completed 2018 Concacaf Women's Championship.

Goalkeeper Adrianna Franch and defender Merritt Mathias trained with the USA during the qualifying tournament but weren't on the 20-player roster for Concacaf play. The 24-player squad for games against Portugal and Scotland also includes Allie Long and Andi Sullivan, who both played for the USA in 2018. Jessica McDonald, one of the stars of the North Carolina Courage's NWSL championship, gets her first call-up since the 2017 SheBelieves Cup.

Not with the team are three players who took part in World Cup qualifying: Kelley O'Hara (who just underwent ankle surgery), Hailie Mace (who is playing for UCLA) and Morgan Brian.

Other players who should be serious contenders for spots on the 2019 World Cup roster are North Carolina Courage midfielder McCall Zerboni (fractured left elbow) and Stanford University centerback Tierna Davidson (broken left ankle).
