Seattle Sounders center back Chad Marshall
underwent meniscus surgery on the knee injured in Sunday's playoff match at Portland, putting him out of action for Thursday's second leg of
the Western Conference semifinal series in Seattle.
At Tuesday's practice, Sounders coach Brian Schmetzer
said updates on Marshall's condition and future availability would be made
after he returned to his feet.
Marshall, a Defender of the Year candidate with 401 MLS regular-season appearances, injured himself as he went to make a pass late in the first half.
Panamanian Roman Torres
came on for Marshall and played alongside Kim Kee-hee
The injury was the second that forced Schmetzer to make a change in the first half of the
match the Sounders lost, 2-1. Cristian Roldan
will be a game-time decision with a hip flexor injury.
