Following the 1-1 tie between Costa Rica and Honduras, the USA only needs to win one of its two games in the qualification stage of the Concacaf Under-20 Championship to advance to the 2019 Under-20 World Cup in Poland.

Honduras led on Josue Villafranca's volley in the 20th minute, but it had to play the final 53 minutes with 10 players following the red card to Mariano Alvarez. Andres Gomez's goal in the 47th minute earned Costa Rica the draw.

The USA will qualify if beats Costa Rica on Friday or Honduras on Monday. It might also qualify with two ties. The top two teams in each three-team group qualify.
