After a 3-0 win over the four-time champion Ukrainian Nationals in the second round, the West Chester United Predators beat the three-time champion New York Pancyprian Freedoms by the same score on
Saturday in the third round of local qualifying for the 2019 U.S. Open Cup.
Founded in 1976, West Chester United is one of the oldest teams left in the qualifying stage for the 2019
competition. It enters teams in the NPSL, new Northeast Elite Soccer League and United Soccer League of Pennsylvania, where it went 20-0-0 in 2017-18 and is 5-0-0 this season.
Two UPSL
teams -- Safira FC and FC Maritsa -- won games on Saturday via shootouts.
Two games scheduled for Saturday weren't played. The Oakland Stompers' game against Academica SC from
Turlock was postponed because of the dangerous air quality in Oakland from the smoke from the Camp Fire. The match between FC Denver and Gam United FC was postponed because of freezing conditions.
