Top-seeded Pima won its first NJCAA division I title with a 2-1 win over Barton in the final played in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The Aztecs came back from a goal down with 10 men to win. They were trailing on Tevin Rochester's penalty kick for Barton when
Javier Vega was red carded in the 66th minute.
But Pima got a goal from Isaias German to equalize in the 79th minute, and Japanese midfielder Hugo Kametani won the
game in overtime with a goal in the 107th minute. It was Kametani's second overtime game-winners of the tournament. He also scored Wednesday against Northeast Texas in a 3-2 win.
Pima's third trip to the final. The Aztecs lost to Mercer County in 1988 and State Fair in 1999. State Fair's title was later vacated for the use of ineligible players.
