1. Mexican forward Daniel Rios is the first MLS signing by the Nashville expansion team
that will begin play in 2020. Rios, 23, was acquired
from Guadalajara after playing the 2018 USL season on loan to North Carolina FC for which he scored 20 goals, tied for second in the league. He had spent the previous three seasons on loan to Atletico
Zacatepec of the Liga Ascenso. He will play for Nashville SC in the USL in 2019.
2. The Wisconsin team in the new USL League
One has been named Forward Madison FC
. The name incorporates the state motto "Forward." The team logo features a pink flamingo. The Pink Plastic Flamingo is the "official bird" of Madison, so
chosen after more than a thousand pink flamingos -- 1,008 to be exact --- were planted in front of the dean's office on the University of Madison campus as a prank in 1979. 3. NISA announced Atlanta as its fourth market for its planned 2019 fall launch.
Like with Charlotte, Connecticut and Philadelphia, no
information on the Atlanta team's ownership group or stadium plan was made by NISA, which is seeking sanctioning from U.S. Soccer as a Division 3 league.
