NAIA Men's Championship: Top-seed William Carey gets scare in opener

Top-seed William Carey rallied from a goal down to beat Georgia Gwinnett, 2-1, on the opening day of the 2018 NAIA Men's Championship at OC Great Park Soccer Stadium in Irvine, California.

Sophomores Ben Whalley and Clairy Kengeye scored for the Crusaders, who improved to 19-0-1 with the win. Joaquin Ruiz Cabello assisted on Whalley's tying goal to give him 22 assists for the season, the most in the NAIA ranks.

Rio Grande, the only former national winner in the 16-team field, Missouri Valley and Cardinal Stritch also won first-round games.
