Real Salt Lake signs 17-year-olds David Ochoa and Luis Arriaga

Real Salt Lake signed U.S. U-20 national team goalkeeper David Ochoa and midfielder Luis Arriaga to Homegrown contracts.

The Californians, both age 17, are among 11 of the 23 players RSL has signed for the 2019 season who are products of its academy program.

“These are two players who we know very well from the RSL Academy,” RSL assistant general manager Elliott Fall said. “We believe that both Arriaga and Ochoa can join the group we have and continue to help build our club at the professional level. We’re excited to see two more players from our Academy who are able to make the leap to the professional game and contribute to our club.”

Ochoa, who hails from Oxnard, made his pro debut as an academy player for the USL Real Monarchs in April. He started two games -- both shutouts -- for the USA in the recent Concacaf U-20 Championship. Arriaga, who is a Santa Rosa native, joined the RSL Academy in 2014.
