Middlebury upset top-ranked Washington University-St. Louis, 1-0, to advance to the NCAA Division Women's Tournament final for the first time.
The Panthers (19-1-3) will face defending
champion Williams in Saturday's final at the UNCG Soccer Complex in Greensboro, North Carolina. Simone Ameer
scored the game's only goal for Middlebury in the 47th minute.
Washington outshot Middlebury, 12-3, but only forced goalkeeper Ursula Alwang
into making three saves. The Bears entered the game with a 21-0-0 record. Sarah Scire
goals in both halves to lead Williams to a 2-0 win over Christopher Newport in the other semifinal. The Ephs, who also won in 2015, will be playing in their fourth final in the last five years.
