Isabella Cook of Illinois's Eclipse SC finished a fine service from Alexa Spaanstra (Univ. of Virginia) in the 51st for a 1-0 win over China in the three-team tourney the USA opened with a 2-1 loss to France. (China and France meet on Tuesday.)
The USA out-shot the Chinese, 16-9. Goalkeepers Hensley Hancuff and Shu Mengdi made three saves each.
The tournament marked the start of the new U-20 cycle aiming for the 2020 U-20 World Cup.
