I can't find the words to express my gratitude to Sigi Schmid. He truly & fully believed in me as a player and as a person. It was hard to gain his trust, but if you did, you had it forever! I'd like to think I did just that...I'll miss my MLS father, I'll miss you Sig! #RIPSigi

So sad 2hear the news about Sigi. A true pioneer of American soccer, fantastic coach, friend and all around great man. There’s so many that carved out amazing careers on/off the pitch because of this man. He believed in me & gave me my shot. Thoughts & prayers 2 the Schmid family

Glad I got to see him this year when they came in town to play Houston. When my oldest Bella was born, this cheerleading outfit was a gift from Sigi and Val. Bella insisted on putting it on today. #RIPSigi pic.twitter.com/VbanShLcf0

RIP Sigi. I remember a day at #Crew96 practice, 2007 or 08, I had one of my kids with me and in no time Sigi and the kid were in a spirited argument about the top 10 German national players of all time. Sigi listened, returned fire and on it went for 20 minutes. Respect.

Sigi was the greatest. Knowing him was a privilege. He meant so much to the #SoundersFC and the soccer community. Man all these words sound so empty right now. I’m really at a loss. Horrible horrible news https://t.co/zYhLvhc6xe

Dear Ric, it’s very sad to hear the news of the passing of such a dear friend. He never stopped supporting his players and friends. He was like a brother/father for me. I was fortunate to have been there at the start of his career and see it all from afar. He will live on in the hearts of all that were fortunate to have known him. A thousand thanks SIGi for all your advice and friendship. You and your Dad Fritz set me on my destiny. For that I will be forever grateful. RIP
