FC Dallas promotes long-time assistant coach Marco Ferruzzi to front-office position

Marco Ferruzzi, who has been at FC Dallas since 2004 and worked under five coaches as an assistant, was named the MLS club's director of soccer operations in charge of player personnel, scouting and team administration.

“Marco has been an invaluable part of the FC Dallas family for the last 15 years, and we are excited to promote him to an expanded leadership role,” FC Dallas chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said. “Marco has extensive experience in MLS – both as a coach and on the technical side – and he has played a key role in our scouting operation for many years."

The San Antonio native played at the University of North Carolina and then professionally with MLS's Tampa Bay Mutiny and the Richmond Kickers and Minnesota Thunder in the A-League.

Ferruzzi was the second big hire from within the FC Dallas organization. Academy director Luchi Gonzalez was named head coach after Oscar Pareja's departure.

Gonzalez unveiled his coaching staff on Wednesday, naming former academy coaches Peter Luccin and Mikey Varas as assistants and keeping incumbent goalkeeping coach Drew Keeshan for the 2019 season.
