NTX Rayados survived an 11-round shootout to beat Motagua of New Orleans and moved closer to advancing to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup for the eighth year in a row. Kevin Ellis
converted the winning penalty kick to give Rayados a 10-9 win in the shootout after their match ended 1-1.
What made his attempt unusual was it was his second attempt of the shootout and
came after he missed his first attempt. Since Motagua finished with 10 players, Rayados were able to also use only 10 shooters, allowing them to go with Ellis a second time.
