What's in the news ...

1. Maryland junior Donovan Pines has signed with D.C. United. William & Mary's Antonio Bustamante and Pines are the club's 10th and 11th Homegrown Player signings. Pines, a 6-foot-5-inch center back, led the Terrapin defense that shut out all five tournament opponents en route to the 2018 NCAA Division I title.

2. The Seattle Sounders promoted Chris Little to Sounders FC 2 head coach. He will retain his position as Sounders FC Academy director of coaching. Little guided the Sounders FC U-17s to the 2018 Development Academy national title. Eight players from his U-17 squads have signed pro contracts with S2. Former S2 head coach John Hutchinson is returning to coach in his native country of Australia.

3. James Armstrong has been named the new Mississippi State women's coach, replacing Tom Anagnost, who left after two seasons to take the head coaching job at UIC. Armstrong is the former associate head coach at Auburn, which made the NCAA Tournament five straight years during his tenure on The Plains. He takes over a Bulldog program that made its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2018.
