FIFA pulls the plug on 2019 Under-17 World Cup in Peru

FIFA has decided to move the 2019 Under-17 World Cup from Peru after an inspection tour and meetings determined there were "organizational and infrastructure challenges."

Peru was the only host candidate after Rwanda withdrew. FIFA is currently evaluating different alternatives for a new host country. The event is slated to be played in October.

Only Asia (Australia, Japan, South Korea and Tajikistan) and Oceania (New Zealand) have completed qualifying.

The USA will host Concacaf play spread over three months in Bradenton, Florida. Peru is slated to host the South American U-17 tournament March 21-April 14.
