A little last-minute bidding war could be exactly what Jose Antonio Reyes and Arsenal needed. Earlier today, Real's Madrid rival Atletico lodged in a surprising bid for the Spanish International, who
has publicly declared his dissatisfaction with life in North London. After Arsenal turned down a $15 million bid from Real Madrid, Reyes' first choice, the deal seemed to be falling apart. Arsenal
wanted more money and Real wasn't interested in bidding higher. Real expressed its condolences to Reyes, who looked certain to remain with the Gunners this season. The late bid from Atletico, one of
Real's fiercest rivals, is sure to spark renewed interest in the striker, whom Arsenal is still believed to be willing to part with for the right price. If Real is still interested, it will have to
act quickly, The Guardian says, as Atletico officials are already on their way to tie up a potential deal. Still only 22, Reyes has a bright future ahead of him, even though things never seemed to
work out for him with Arsenal.
