MLS expands Generation Adidas Cup

The Generation adidas Cup, a youth tournament featuring MLS academy teams, has been expanded.

The 2019 tournament will feature a record 36 U-17 teams -- 21 from MLS and 15 foreign clubs -- and eight teams -- four from MLS and four from Liga MX -- in a new U-15 competition April 13-20 at the Toyota Soccer Center at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
The U-17 age group will again feature championship and premier divisions, while the four MLS teams will play each of the four Liga MX teams and the top MLS and Liga MX teams meet in the final of the U-15 age group.

The 21 U-17 MLS teams were divided into two tiers based on their play in two regional qualifying events, while the four U-17 MLS teams advanced from qualification rounds.
