1. Mexico beat Chile, 3-1, in Tata Martino's debut as El Tri's head coach Friday in San Diego. European-based Raul Jimenez, Hector Moreno and Hirving Lozano all scored in a span of 14 minutes in the second half to give Mexico the win. The game drew 49,617 fans at SDCCU Stadium. Mexico will head north to Santa Clara to play Paraguay on Tuesday night.

2. Atlanta United's Josef Martinez scored on a penalty kick to cap Venezuela's 3-1 win over Argentina for only La Vinotinto's second victory over Argentina in 24 meetings. Martinez's Atlanta United teammate, Pity Martinez, started for Argentina in the friendly played at Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

3. Seattle Sounders captain Nicolas Lodeiro assisted on the opening goal in Uruguay's 3-0 win over Uzbekistan as part of the China Cup in Nanning. In the other game, host China lost to Thailand, 1-0, prompting protests from fans who want the national team disbanded. The game was the first with Italian Fabio Cannavaro in charge.
