What They're Saying: Tata Martino

"I’m pleased to see something that I can’t say I didn’t expect, which is the disposition of the players, and I’m also pleased by the fact that they’ve incorporated an idea of play so quickly, they've taken on how we want to play. I think that showed today."

-- Tata Martino, Mexico's new national team coach, after El Tri beat Paraguay, 4-2, on Tuesday for its second convincing win over South American opposition in five days, after a 3-1 win over Chile.  The Mexico-Paraguay game drew 50,317 fans to rainy Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. I am very pleased with Mexico's success. I hope they will meet with equal success with UEFA teams as well. The better competition Mexico is, the better for US development and the rest of CONCACAF. Hopefully USSF will be motivated to embrace change too.
