Christian Pulisic diagnosed with quadriceps strain

Christian Pulisic's injury troubles continued when he was diagnosed as suffering a right quadriceps strain after an MRI and evaluation conducted Tuesday night in Houston following the USA's 1-1 tie with Chile.

He has returned to Borussia Dortmund and was slated to be evaluated by Dr. Markus Braun, Borussia Dortmund's team doctor, on Thursday.

Pulisic left in the 36th minute after scoring the game’s opening goal. The injury was unfortunate as he was having his best game for the USA since it failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

Similar injuries kept Pulisic out of the national team for its friendlies last September and October. The website TransferMarkt lists Pulisic as being sidelined four times previously in 2018-19 for muscle problems or torn muscle fiber:

1. Aug. 30-Sept 16 (17 days)
2. Oct. 2-17 (15 days)
3. Nov. 30-Dec. 5 (5 days)
4. Feb. 14-March 2 (16 days)
