Saturday morning: What's in the news ...

1. The North Carolina Courage will host the 2019 Women’s International Champions Cup. Lyon, the reigning French and European champion, will return for a second year and join Atletico Madrid and Manchester City in the four-team tournament. The Courage, the 2018 NWSL champion, beat Lyon in the 2018 final played in Miami around the men's ICC. The 2019 women's tournament will consist of semifinal matches on Aug. 15  and third-place and final matches on Aug. 18.

2. Tormenta FC won the opening game in the new USL League One, beating Greenville Triumph, 1-0, before a sellout crowd of 3,519 fans. Former Chicago Fire winger Alex Morrell scored the only goal in the game played at Georgia Southern University. USL League One's opening weekend continues with three games on Saturday: Richmond-Lansing, North Texas SC-Chattanooga and Orlando City B-FC Tucson.

3. U.S. Soccer wants the gender discrimination lawsuit filed by 28 U.S. women's national team players consolidated with an earlier federal suit filed by former keeper Hope Solo. A hearing is scheduled for April 29 in the Central District of California, based in Los Angeles. Solo filed her suit in August 2018 in the Northern District of California, based in San Francisco.
