What They're Saying: Buzz Lagos

“I imagined MLS and I imagined a stadium. But nothing like this stadium. This wonderful facility, how did this happen? The feeling when you get inside, it’s almost like you’re in another universe, like you’re down at Disneyland. But here you are in plain, old St. Paul Midway.”

-- Buzz Lagos, the former St. Paul Academy math teacher who started the Minnesota Thunder and is responsible more than anyone carrying the torch for soccer in Minnesota between the NASL Kicks and current Minnesota United, on Allianz Field, which opens on Saturday when the Loons host NYCFC. Ben Myers, my sincere apology if  I offend you, but your statement holds no relevance to the opening of a magnificent new soccer stadium in St Paul, Minnesota. Buzz Lagos worked tirelessly to see this day and I am greatly pleased that his efforts have come to fruition in arguably the best soccer specific stadium in America.
