Sounders reach Generation adidas Cup under-17 semifinals

The Seattle Sounders defeated three-time champion River Plate, 1-0, to advance to the U-17 Champions Division semifinals at the Generation adidas Cup, joining Dinamo Zagreb, Valencia and West Ham in the final four.

Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez scored in the dying seconds of overtime to move the Sounders into Thursday's semifinals against West Ham at Toyota Stadium.

Ocampo-Chavez, who has played for the U.S. under-17 national team, was one of four pros who started for the U-17 Sounders along with Josh Atencio, Ray Serrano and Danny Leyva, who signed an MLS contract last week. They all play for the USL's Tacoma Defiance.

The Galaxy also went to overtime before falling to West Ham, 2-1, on a last-time goal. Cameron Dunbar scored the lone Galaxy goal on a pass from Kobe Hernandez-Foster, his teammate on the U.S. U-17s.

David Rodriguez, who plays for North Texas SC in the new USL League One, scored for FC Dallas in its 3-1 loss to Dinamo Zagreb. Real Salt Lake fell to Valencia, 2-0.
