Evening Edition: What's in the news ...

1. Seattle Sounders midfielder Cristian Roldan had his one-game suspension for a red card against LAFC rescinded following a review by MLS's Independent Review Panel. The decision to rescind the one-game suspension and accompanying fine for the red card was unanimous. Roldan received the red card in the 18th minute after referee Ted Unkel (using VAR) deemed he had deliberately slapped LAFC's Eduard Atuesta in the face.

2. Longtime soccer executive Kevin Payne, currently U.S. Club Soccer’s CEO, and Maryland coach Sacho Cirovski have been elected to the Washington D.C. Sports Hall of Fame. Payne was the original general manager of D.C. United, which the first two MLS titles. Cirovski led Maryland to its third national championship since he became coach in 1993. They will be inducted along with seven other individuals and the 2017-18 Washington Capitals NHL championship team in a special ceremony on June 23 at Nationals Park prior to the Washington Nationals baseball game.

3. HBO has acquired the exclusive U.S. television and streaming rights to "Diego Maradona" documentary, which will debut on Sept. 24. The film, produced and directed by Asif Kapadia. chronicles the life of the Argentine star and draws from his personal archives of never-before-seen footage. It will have its world premiere as an Official Selection (Out Of Competition) at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival and receive a limited theatrical run in the U.S. prior to its HBO debut.
