1. MLS referee Drew Fischer is among 15 (male) referees FIFA has assigned to work as VAR referees at the 2019 Women's World Cup. Eleven of the referees come from six European leagues where VAR is used. Ten of them were VAR referees at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Fischer, who hails from Calgary, has worked more than 100 games in eight seasons in MLS.

2. FC Cincinnati has recalled No. 1 SuperDraft pick Frankie Amaya from the USL Championship. He played a combined 83 minutes in two appearances for hometown Orange County SC. FC Cincinnati sent him to Orange County to get more playing time after playing just 21 minutes in its first seven MLS games.

3. Panama has named five players from MLS second teams to its 2019 Under-20 World Cup team. Jesus West (Toronto FC), Guillermo Benitez (Atlanta United), Carlos Harvey (LA Galaxy II), Ernesto Walker (LA Galaxy II) and Saed Diaz (Philadelphia Union) all joined their teams in 2019 as part of an influx of young Panamanian players into the USL.
