Women's World Cup Countdown: What's in the news ...

1. Sky Blue FC's Estelle Johnson has been named to Cameroon's preliminary roster. Johnson, who hails from Colorado, attended Kansas University before joining WPS in 2010. The 26-player squad training in Yaounde also includes American Michaela Abam and Canadian Easther Mayi Kith, who both played at West Virginia University and now play for clubs in France. They are among nine French-based players in Coach Alain Djeumfa's squad that is headed to Spain next week for further training.

2. Canada's squad for its sendoff game against Mexico May 18 in Toronto includes Julia Grosso, Jayde Riviere and Jordyn Huitema, who are all 18, and 16-year-old defender Jade Rose. Canada will be without starting defender Kadeisha Buchanan, who plays for Lyon, which meets Barcelona in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final the same day.

3. Phil Neville named NWSL players Rachel Daly (Houston) and Jodie Taylor (Reign FC) to England's team. Daly is among 11 newcomers in the 23-player team.
