Evening Edition: What's in the news ...

1. A pair of Americans are headed to Wembley for English promotion playoff finals. Duane Holmes started for Derby County in its 4-2 win at Leeds United -- he exited just before halftime -- to overcome a 1-0 deficit and reach the Championship playoff final (1-0 on aggregate) against Aston Villa on May 27. Lynden Gooch came on in the second half of Sunderland's 0-0 tie at Portsmouth that sent the Black Cats into the League One final against the Charlton Athletic-Doncaster Rovers winner on May 26.

2. Nashville SC acquired David Accam from the Columbus Crew for its 2020 expansion season in MLS. It paid the Crew $350,000 in GAM and $100,000 in TAM in a deal that will take effect next year. Accam, whom the Crew acquired from the Philadelphia nine days ago for $100,000 in TAM, $400,000 in GAM and an international roster spot, will remain in Columbus for the remainder of the 2019 season.

3. Telemundo Deportes will launch a twice-a-week show on Twitter, premiering on June 14, to highlight the Women’s World Cup and Copa America for which it holds the Spanish-language rights. Sports Illustrated’s Planet Futbol presenter Luis Miguel Echegaray and LA-based sports reporter Ivana Roja will host Futbol After Dark (working title) at 11 p.m. ET.
