Christine Sinclair heads to Women's World Cup with Canada for fifth time

Nine players in the NWSL and four more enrolled at U.S. colleges were named to Canada’s 23-player roster for the Women’s World Cup.

With 181 goals in 282 games, captain Christine Sinclair will equal Karina LeBlanc’s record of representing Canada in five World Cups. Sophie Schmidt and Desiree Scott follow with 184 and 143 caps, respectively.

Coach Kenneth Heiner-Moller also picked three 18-year-olds: Jordyn Huitema, who just signed with Paris St. Germain, Julia Grosso, who played her first season at Texas in 2018, Jayde Riviere, who will be a freshman at Michigan in the fall.
