Sunday's USA-Chile game averaged 5,408,000
viewers on Fox and Fox Sports' streaming sources, making it the most-watched Women’s World Cup group stage match ever on U.S. television.
The previous record was 5,043,000 viewers for the USA's final four-stage match against Nigeria in 2015. The second group stage match in 2015 -- USA-Sweden -- averaged 4,492,000 viewers.
The media coverage in the aftermath of the USA's 13-0 win over Thailand certainly helped boost viewership for Sunday's game at the Parc des Princes, as did the weekend date.
The total audience delivery -- television plus streaming viewers -- for USA-Thailand game averaged 2.72 million viewers, down from 3.31 million TV viewers for USA-Australia on FS1 four years ago. The 2015 match aired in prime time.
The USA-Chile game was the second-most streamed Women’s World Cup match ever with an average-minute audience of more than 84,000.

Brazil. Brazil-Australia drew a combined audience of 19.587 million viewers (Globo 19.096 million and SporTV 0.492 million), only slightly lower than that of Brazil’s first match against Jamaica (19.728 million viewers).
Japan. An average audience of 5.82 million viewers watched live coverage of Japan’s second group-stage match -- a 2-1 win over Scotland on Fuji TV.
England. England-Argentina achieved an average 3.889 million viewers on BBC One, only slightly lower than the record women’s soccer audience for England’s opening match against Scotland, which averaged 4.019 million.
Netherlands. The Oranje Leeuwinnen's match against Cameroon earned Saturday’s highest audience on Dutch television (NPO1) with an average of 2.260 million viewers -- 79.8% of people who were watching television at the time were watching the game -- making it the most viewed Women’s World Cup match ever in the Netherlands.
Thailand. Sunday's Thailand-Sweden got an average audience of 732,000 viewers on PPTV, a Thai record Women’s World Cup audience for live match coverage.
