What They're Saying: Isidro Sanchez

"He was a body without a soul. Without spirit, without hunger. You'd see him walking, he had no energy. He said, 'I want to return to MLS. I want to do it.' But he walked like an old man. Like an ancient body."

Isidro Sanchez, Freddy Adu's coach for part of the 2018 USL season at the Las Vegas Lights, Adu's last stop in a career that took him to 14 teams in 15 seasons. An out-of-shape Adu was supposed to use prolonged scrimmages to get himself back into shape but while a normal player might touch the ball 50 times Sanchez said Adu would touch the ball two times before adding, "But those two times!" Adu, who is training youth players in Maryland, turned 30 two weeks ago and says he's not ready to give up. (ESPN FC)
