Saturday morning: What's in the news ...

1. Kristen Hamilton tied an NWSL record for goals in a game with four in the North Carolina Courage's 5-2 win over Houston. Hamilton, whose other three goals this season came on a hat trick June 1 against Orlando Pride, tied the league record set by Sam Kerr in 2017 with Sky Blue FC. Hamilton's seven goals put her second in the NWSL this season behind Kerr with nine.

2. The Columbus Crew signed 30-year-old Curacao goalkeeper Eloy Room as a replacement for Zack Steffen, whose transfer to Manchester City takes effect in July. Room, who had a tournament-high 26 saves in four Gold Cup games for Curacao, was the backup keeper at PSV the last two seasons after spending 10 seasons at Vitesse.

3. The Vancouver Whitecaps completed a deal to acquire Iraqi international Ali Adnan from Italy's Udinese and make him one of their Designated Players. Adnan had been on loan since arriving in March. The Caps termed the transfer fee "an MLS transfer record for the fullback position."
