Youth: NYCFC and Solar FC claim Boys DA national titles

NYCFC repeated as U-18/19 U.S. Soccer Development Academy champion thanks to a 2-1 win over FC Dallas while North Texas club Solar FC lifted the U-16/17 crown with a shootout win over the Georgia's Concorde Fire.

Six minutes after NYCFC goalkeeper Alex Rando saved a ninth-minute penalty, Velkjo Petkovic struck to give NYCFC a 1-0 lead. Jonathan Jimenez, who scored in NYCFC's 2-0 semifinal win over Chicago Sockers FC and did prep on Petkovic's strike, scored what would be the gamewinner in the 63rd minute. FC Dallas' goal, by Beni Redzic, came late in stoppage time.

The U-16/17 final ended scoreless after regulation time. Solar FC's Grant McCarty scored in the third minute of overtime but Chase Oliver equalized for the Concorde Fire to send the game to a shootout. Solar goalkeeper Chris Edward's two saves paved the way to his team's 4-2 win from the mark.
