USL Championship: What's in the news ...

1. The Hartford Athletic opened partially renovated Dillon Stadium with a 2-1 win over Indy Eleven before 5,500 fans. The project to redo the 84-year-old stadium has cost $14 million, paid for mostly by state bonds. Work on the stadium still needs to be done, including the lighting, which necessitated a 5 p.m. start. Work on the stadium includes new stands, new artificial turf field and press box. The University of Connecticut will play its home soccer games this fall at Dillon while a new stadium at the Athletics District in nearby Storrs is being completed for the 2020 season.
