2. The Tampa Bay Rowdies opened up a five-point lead in the Eastern Conference when they beat Saint Louis FC, 4-1, in a rain-delayed match at Al Lang Stadium and New York Red Bulls II drew, 2-2, at Memphis. Sebastian Guenzatti scored two first-half goals for the Rowdies to give him 12 goals, tied with Nashville SC's Daniel Rios for second in the league. RBII had to settle for a tie after giving up a late goal to Brandon Allen, a star on its 2016 championship team. Allen was acquired by struggling Memphis from the Rowdies in late June.

3. Tyler Freeman scored his first professional goal in Swope Park Rangers' 4-3 win over Hartford Athletic. In goal, 17-year-old Brooks Thompson made his pro debut for Swope Park, which moved out of the Eastern Conference basement with just its third win of the season.
