Evening Edition: What's in the news ...

1. Matt Miazga will return to Reading on loan from Chelsea for a second season in English League Championship. It will be his fourth season on loan from the Blues, who acquired him from the New York Red Bulls in January 2016. He spent two seasons on loan at Dutch club Vitesse and then played at France's Nantes, leaving this past winter to join Reading, where he stabilized the Royals' defense and helped it stave off relegation. Miazga, 24, started for the USA in the 2019 Gold Cup final.

2. The U.S. women's national team will play Portugal at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field (Aug. 29) and Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota (Sept. 3) as part of its five-game Victory Tour. It will open Aug. 3 against Ireland at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. The other two games will take place on Oct. 3 and 6.

3. The LA Galaxy's Efrain Alvarez was one of five players added to the Homegrown Team roster for the 2019 MLS Homegrown Game against Chivas de Guadalajara’s U-20 Team July 30. Also added: Clement Bayiha (Montreal), George Campbell (Atlanta United), Andre Reynolds II (Chicago) and JT Marcinkowski (San Jose). Withdrawing from the roster are Daniel Kinumbe (Montreal), Donovan Pines (D.C. United) and Matt Freese (Philadelphia)
