The National Independent Soccer Association, which received Division III pro sanctioning from U.S. Soccer in February, will launch with an abbreviated fall season.
Eight clubs will
compete in what the league is calling the NISA Showcase: East:
Stumptown Athletic (Charlotte)
San Diego 1904 FC
Cal United Strikers FC (Orange County)
Oakland Roots SC
They will play six games with East Coast and West Coast
champions crowned in finals played on Nov. 18. The winners will qualify for NISA's 2020 playoffs.
The Philadelphia Fury and Stumptown Athletic will also play two friendlies against NPSL
teams Detroit City FC and Chattanooga FC, respectively. The two NPSL teams are considered likely candidates to join NISA in 2020.
Three markets NISA lists aren't playing in the fall:
Providence Connecticut and Baton Rouge.
