In Group B play, the USA faces Haiti (Aug. 4), Guatemala (Aug. 5) and Suriname (Aug. 7). The top two teams in each of the four groups advance to the quarterfinals. Should the USA advance, its quarterfinal opponent will come out of Group D, which is comprised of Costa Rica, Jamaica, and guest team Portugal.

In its first appearance at the Concacaf U-15 Championship, the USA, coached by Dave van den Bergh, finished runner-up to Mexico with a 2-0 loss in the final after winning its first four games while scoring its foes Canada (twice), Costa Rica and Trinidad & Tobago 15-1. Eight members of van den Bergh's 2017 team, including leading scorers Gianluca Busio and Gio Reyna, went on to represent the USA at the 2019 Concacaf U-17 Championship, through which the USA qualified for this year's U-17 World Cup.

While U.S. Soccer has not filled five of its youth national team head-coaching positions with full-time coaches, it has for U-16s and U-15s used Development Academy club coaches on a per diem basis. Klein also coached the U.S. U-15s at the Torneo delle Nazioni in Gradisca, Italy, where they finished in ninth place.

Players born in 2014 or later are eligible Concacaf U-15 Championship. The U.S. roster is comprised of 17 2004s and one 2005.

When Gabriel Slonina signed with Chicago he became the youngest MLS signing since Freddy Adu in 2003. Slonina, defender Antonio Leone, plus midfielders Kenan Hot and Evan Rotundo have been part of in all six events of the 2018-19 U-15 cycle.

Leone of LAFC won the Golden Ball as the 2018-19 Development Academy postseason’s best player. Forward Christian Torres, also of LAFC, tied for the Golden Boot as the DA postseason tournament’s leading scorer. Goalkeeper Damian Alguera played up with De Anza Force’s U-16/17 squad during the DA playoffs as De Anza reached national semifinals.

Can someone explain why USSF is only hiring these coaches on a per diem basis? I'd like to hear both sides of the coin on this.

US Soccer is requiring coaches to live in the Chicago area - a delimiter which narrows the field down to almost zero.

That wasn't very clear.  The requirement is for hiring full time/part time coaches.  Until someone bites on the hiring, they need to hire coaches on a temporary basis.
