2. INJURY REPORT: More bad luck for Lichaj

North Carolina, ranked No. 1 in the Soccer America Preseason Men's Top 25, has lost freshman defender Eric Lichaj, who is likely out for the season after breaking a bone in his left foot in the Heels' Aug. 13 exhibition at Davidson.

The Chicago Magic product was rated one of the nation's top freshman defenders and was expected to battle for a starting job on UNC's experienced backline. Lichaj was one of the leaders of the '88 class of players at the U.S. U-17 residency program in Bradenton, Fla., but an injury kept him out of the 2005 Under-17 World Championship in Ecuador.

UNC opens play this weekend against William & Mary and Central Florida at the Wake Forest adidas Classic.
