Saturday morning: What's in the news ...

1. Jesse Marsch won his first Austrian Bundesliga game as head coach of Red Bull Salzburg, a 2-0 winner at Rapid Vienna before 24,000 fans in the season opener. Marsch, who was an assistant coach at RB Leipzig last season, was hired by the Red Bull group to replace Marco Rose, who is now at Borussia Moenchengladbach. Salzburg has won six straight league titles and eight in the last 10 years.

2. U.S. U-20 stars Chris Gloster and Sebastian Soto were on the bench forHannover 96's opening game of the 2019-20 German 2. Bundesliga season, a 2-1 loss at VfB Stuttgart. Both Hannover and Stuttgart were relegated last season from the Bundesliga.

3. Three Americans were included in Mexico's under-16 national team for its trip to Denmark for the Nordic Cup: Jonathan Gomez (FC Dallas academy) and Johnny Perez (LA Galaxy academy), who both played for the U.S. U-16s in 2018, and Adrian Gonzalez, Jonathan Gonzalez's younger brother.
