Reading United rallies from two goals down to move into USL League Two final

Reading United came back from two goals down in the second half to beat South Georgia Tormenta FC 2, 3-2, on the road and move into the USL League Two final for the second straight season.

Reading will play the Flint City Bucks Saturday at Kettering University’s historic Atwood Stadium. The Bucks drew a crowd of 4,633 fans for their 1-0 win over FC Golden State.
Daniel Strachan and Adrian Billhardt  scored from set-pieces within the first 15 minutes of the match to give Tormenta 2 a 2-0 lead.
But Reading United AC rallied on goals by Ivorian Yaya Fane (former Philadelphia Lone Star) in the 70th minute and Bronx product Bakary Bagayoko (Cumberland) the 84th minute. And it won the game when Felipe Hideki (MidAmerica Nazarene) scored from the penalty spot in the last minute of overtime after Bagayoko was taken down in the penalty area.

Reading beat GPS Portland Phoenix (4-3 in a shootout after a 1-1 tie) and the Western Mass Pioneers (1-0) to reach the semifinals. In 2018, it lost in at home to Calgary Foothills FC in overtime in the final.

The Bucks survived a wild overtime game against the Des Moines Menace, needing a goal from backup keeper Gustavo Vasconcelos, brought on as a sub late in the game, with just 10 seconds remaining in the second overtime to send the game to a shootout, which they won. A 4-2 win over Kaw Valley FC from Kansas followed.

The Bucks, who moved to Flint in 2019, won three PDL titles (2006, 2014 and 2016).
