Nani leads hometown Lions to MLS Skills Challenge title

After an 18-year absence, MLS reintroduced the Skills Challenge, which pitted MLS all-stars against players from host Orlando City and Atletico Madrid following the Homegrown Game at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

2019 MLS Skills Challenge:

The winner? The host Lions with 202 points, ahead of Atletico Madrid with 195 points and the MLS stars in third with 168.

The competition, used by MLS at the 1998-2001 all-star games, consisted this year of three challenges: Shooting, Touch & Volley and Passing.

The competition went down to the final element, a passing competition that included 25 points for balls off the woodwork.

On his final attempt, first-year Portuguese star Nani hit the woodwork to allow Orlando City to overtake Atletico.
