1. Deedson Vixamar, who won the Golden Ball in helping Atlanta's Kalonji Soccer Academy win the U-18 boys title at the 2019 US Youth Soccer National Championships, became the fourth American to join Denmark's Hobro. The Haitian-born forward signed a four-year contract, reflecting how highly Hobro rates him. Emmanuel Sabbi, 21, helped Hobro stave of relegation from the SuperLiga last season and has two goals in three games this season. In his second season in Denmark, Christian Cappis, 19, is starting for unbeaten Hobro while Yosef Samuel, 22, debuted on Saturday.

2. Matthew Hoppe, who joined Schalke 04 from Barca Academy, shared the scoring title with teammate Rene Biskup at a preseason U-19 tournament in Oberndorf that featured some of Europe's top youth teams. Schalke 04 beat Liverpool, 1-0 for third place after losing to Denmark's FC Midtjylland, 2-1, in the semifinals. Hoppe's goal against FC Midtjylland was his third of the tournament, which also featured teams from Tottenham, Paris St. Germain, Freiburg, Red Bull Salzburg and Brazil's Gremio.

3. Defender Erik Palmer-Brown joined his third club on loan from Manchester City, signing with Austria Wien for the 2019-20 season. Palmer-Brown, 22, began at Belgium's Kortrijk in 2018 and then joined NAC Breda for the 2018-19 season. Austria Wien, which plays Apollon of Cyprus in Europa League qualifying on Thursday, has 25 league and 27 cup titles but is without a point in the new Bundesliga season after opening with 3-1 and 3-0 losses.
