Evening Edition: What's in the news ...

1. Saturday's USA-Ireland women's international averaged 319,000 viewers on ESPN2. The match did not kick off until after 10 p.m. ET. The most recent women's friendly on ESPN2 was USA-Belgium in Los Angeles on April 7. It averaged 439,000 viewers for another late kickoff. The two most-watched games on English-language television over the weekend were Atlanta United-LA Galaxy (500,000 viewers) and Borussia Dortmund-Bayern Munich (401,000), both on Fox. Sunday's MLS game between Minnesota United and Portland on ESPN averaged only 215,000 viewers.

2. Inter Miami added a third South American teenager with the signing of 19-year-old Venezuelan Christian Makoun from Zamora FC. Makoun, who can play centerback or in central midfield, spent last season on loan at Juventus but didn't play for Juve's first or second team. The Venezuela U-20 captain joins Argentines Matias Pellegrini and Julian Carranza as Inter Miami's first three signings.

3. The Vancouver Whitecaps signed Honduras international winger Michaell Chirinos on loan from Olimpia to replace Brazilian Lucas Venuto, whose contract was mutually terminated to allow him to sign with Santos. Chirinos, 24, spent last season on loan to Liga MX's Lobos BUAP, where he had six goals and two assists in 33 appearances.
