U.S. U-15 boys move into semifinals thanks to brace from Omaha's Cisneros

The USA moved into Saturday's semifinals against Portugal at the 2019 Concacaf U-15 Championship thanks to a 2-0 win over Costa Rica on Thursday morning.

Osvaldo Cisneros (Sporting KC) scored both goals -- one in each half -- for the USA, which has four shutout wins in four games.

Cisneros hails from Omaha, where he played for various youth academies until he was 11 when he joined Sporting Kansas City's youth program.

For two years, his parents drove him twice a week to train and on weekends for games -- almost three hours each way between Omaha and Kansas City -- before he moved in with a host family in Kansas City.

Cisneros, who split time between SKC's U-15s and U-16/17s in 2018-19, has been playing with the USA's U-15s since they started up in January 2018.

The other Sporting KC starter on the U-15s is midfielder Rokas Pukstas, who hails from Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Pukstas joined the SKC program in 2018 and also split time between the U-15s and U-16/17s, scoring 15 goals in 19 games for the former team. His father, Mindaugas Pukstas, was an Olympic marathon runner for Lithuania.

The other three semifinalists are Canada along with invitees Portugal and Slovenia.

Canada knocked off reigning champion Mexico, 2-0, thanks to goals by Hugo-Hilaire Mbongue (Toronto FC) and Jean-Daniel Assi (Montreal Impact).

Portugal beat Haiti, 7-0, with all six of the seven goals coming in the first half hour. Slovenia beat Israel, the third invitee, in a shootout after their game ended 0-0.

Great to see our boys progress in the U-15 Concacaf ...

Curious to know if Portugal and Slovenia win are they Concacaf Champions?   ;)

We should let Canada and USA play for a true regional champion.
